France vs Ireland
France versed Ireland yesterday and the match ended 1-1. There was a big controvercy because Henry at the minute 102 of the match controlled the ball with his hand crossed it and france mannaged to tie the game. Ireland now wants to talk to the fifa to see what they can do about the hand ball because they are out of the world cup. I believe they can't do much and the win will stay with france and unfortunetly Ireland will not make it to the world cup.

The hand was unquestionably intentional, and Henry even said in a post-game conference that he had controlled the ball with his head, but that he was not the reffere. Unfortunately, I don't think Ireland can do much about it either, because they can't go back and replay the last part of the game or something else, because the situations are totally different. The wrong decision was taken by the ref, but he made a mistake like anyone could and there is no going back...
ReplyDeleteMan I really do not like France, its unfortunate for Ireland that they had to loose the game in such a contraversal way. I could imagine the disappointment of the country, soccer is the number one sport over there in Europe, and not making it to the biggest competition in soccer is heartbreaking.
ReplyDeleteI know winning the world cup can help unite a country. When Italy won in 2006 all Italians had something to unite and be proud about. There is a new movie coming out about Nelson Mandela, who uses the Rubgy team as a tool to unite his Country. The Rugby team wins the world championship, and a whole country is united because of it.
